Some trips are for seeing places and some are for coming back to yourself. Return to the Heart is the second kind: five days at Taorayiná, a 60-hectare nature reserve of primary forest in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, about 25 minutes from Tayrona National Park.
What the retreat is
A five-day immersion that combines practices that complement each other: yoga and conscious breathing, a cacao ceremony, sound healing with live music, temazcal, walks to the waterfalls and moments of silence. Everything takes place inside the reserve, with accommodation in cabins among the forest and views of the Caribbean.
What a day feels like
Days begin with gentle movement and breathing. Then there is time to eat, rest and walk with a guide to the natural pools, about 25 minutes through the forest. In the evening come the sound and music spaces. Between one thing and the next there are long pauses: the retreat is not meant to fill your schedule but to leave you time.
The practices, one by one
- Yoga and breathwork: classes for all levels, no previous experience needed.
- Ceremonial cacao: from the Sierra Nevada, handcrafted by local women, with music, movement and a circle of words.
- Sound healing: immersive concerts with Tibetan bowls, flutes and live drums.
- Temazcal: a traditional steam bath with volcanic stones and medicinal plants.
- Medicinal plant and psilocybin ceremony: a guided space for introspection with music and integration. It is not a medical treatment.
- Indigenous wisdom: a meeting with the Kogui tradition, with dances.
Who guides it
The retreat is led by Juli Rivera, María Alejandra Grillo and Catalina del Mar, together with the Taorayiná team.
